Brian Rosenfeld, M.D., an Intensive Care Specialist whose vision and entrepreneurial drive conceived of and brought to market remote intensive care unit management. He co-founded VISICU Inc. in 1998, which was the first in-patient use of real-time telehealth. He has over 20 US and foreign patents.
Brian led the successful IPO of VISICU in 2006 and its subsequent acquisition by Philips in 2008. As Chief Medical Officer at Philips, he managed experimental clinical programs and the implementation of a coordinated telehealth strategy. Since leaving Philips, Dr Rosenfeld has concentrated on the future of real-time telehealth across the care continuum and the current and future requirements for pandemic and bio-terrorism responsiveness.
Prior to founding VISICU, Dr. Rosenfeld was an Associate Professor of Anesthesiology and Critical Care Medicine, Surgery and Medicine at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. He has been recognized a pioneer and leader in the telehealth field receiving the “Innovator of the Year” award by the American Telemedicine Association in 2007 and the President’s Award for Individual Leadership in 2015.
