Kerry is a parent who works as a Consumer Carer Coordinator for Children’s Health Queensland Child and Youth Mental Health Service. A teacher in her previous life, she has worked in this role since 2002 first at Mater Health Services and now at CHQ. The role allows the voice of families to be heard within the organisation of CYMHS.
Kerry chairs the CYMHS Parent Advisory Group which consists of other parents/carers who have used CYMHS and senior professional staff. The group reviews, initiates and responds to all things consumer carer related hoping to create more awareness of the varying needs of our families.
She regularly presents at conferences, forums and gives university lectures for UQ students in Psychology, Counselling and Masters of Mental Health Studies.
As a published author on the benefits of working with families and consumer participation, she believes strongly in consumers and carers working in partnership with mental health professionals.
