Michael has been a leading figure in Clinical Informatics for 30 years working both for both Government and Industry across the world. He has designed Clinical Systems for Primary Care, and hardware for hospitals. He has worked with both UK and Australian governments on their major digital health infrastructure programmes.
He has worked in the terminology space since the early 1980’s and Michael is excited to be part of the team facilitating SNOMED implementation in over 30 countries. In the past he lead the UK NHS Common User Interface programme.He also was clinical lead on the Assistive Technology programme which led to the foundation of the Continua Alliance. He currently works in Australia on the national implementation of digital health to support Healthcare Reform and has recently delivered a programme with the Australian Commission for Safety and Quality to standardise the presentation of medicines on-screen. This work on medicines management and adverse reactions with a focus safety and usability continues.
